Abstract

This article examines the pedagogical and methodological foundations of effectively organizing painting classes, the possibilities for developing students’ artistic and visual competencies in the educational process, and effective methods for developing skills in working with color. Painting classes contribute not only to the development of students’ practical representational skills but also to the development of their powers of observation, color perception, compositional thinking, aesthetic taste, creative thinking, and ability to make independent artistic decisions. The article analyzes the importance of the principles of consistency, systematicity, visualization, practical activity, individualized instruction, and reflective assessment in teaching painting. It also substantiates the methodological potential of purposefully integrating the fundamentals of color theory with practical exercises, working from direct observation, understanding light-and-shadow relationships, ensuring compositional integrity, and using modern pedagogical technologies in organizing painting classes.
